Kidnappers Kill DPO, Injure Police Officer ln Delta
The Delta State Police Command has confirmed the killing of its Divisional Police Officer (DPO) at Agbarho Police Station in Ughelli North local government area of the state.
According to the reports, the demised DPO who was posted to the police station two days ago was tricked through a distress call by kidnappers at about 1:30 am on Monday.
A source disclosed that the DPO received the call that some persons had been kidnapped and their vehicle was trapped at the Agbarho Railway Station.
A Chief Superintendent of Police (CSP) at Ororokpe, Okpe local government area of the state, identified as CSP Paul who accompanied the DPO to the scene was seriously injured and is currently on life support in an undisclosed medical hospital.
“Immediately, the new DPO contacted his Orerokpo colleague, and they mobilised to the area and unknown to them that the kidnappers ambushed and fired at them.
“The Agbarho DPO was killed, his Orerokpo counterpart was seriously wounded and rushed to an undisclosed hospital.
“Information about other policemen in the team was sketchy. Some said they were also killed while some said they were injured. We don’t know for now,” the source added.
