Key suspect in Taraba Varsity student’s mysterious death found dead
Emmanuel Kefas, the young man recently accused in connection with the death of his girlfriend, Comfort Jimtop, has been found dead under unclear circumstances in the Tudiri community of Ardo-Kola Local Government Area of Taraba State.
Kefas was reportedly a key suspect in the ongoing investigation into the death of Comfort Jimtop, a 100-level Mass Communication student at Taraba State University, Jalingo.
Her mysterious death had sparked widespread concern and drawn significant public attention across the state, particularly within the university community.
Confirming the incident on Saturday, the Taraba State Police Command, through its spokesperson, James Lashen, said a lifeless body believed to be Kefas’s had been discovered in Tudiri.
“We received information from the village head of Tudiri in Ardo-Kola that a lifeless body was found. A Tecno Android phone was recovered beside the corpse,” Lashen said.
He further disclosed that when the phone was later charged, investigators found a photo showing Kefas and the late Comfort Jimtop together, indicating a likely romantic relationship.
“The corpse has been evacuated to the Federal Medical Centre, FMC, Jalingo for autopsy. Efforts are ongoing to trace the boy’s family for official identification. The autopsy will also help determine the actual cause of death,” Lashen added.
Authorities have not yet confirmed whether Kefas’s death is being treated as suicide, homicide, or accidental. The investigation remains ongoing.
This latest development adds a shocking dimension to the tragedy, leaving many unanswered questions as police continue their probe into the deaths of both Comfort Jimtop and Emmanuel Kefas.
