Kebbi State Police Command has arrested a suspected cattle rustler and recovered two cows and a Toyota vehicle used in the crime in Suru Local Government Area.

According to a statement issued on Tuesday, by the State Police Public Relations Officer, Nafiu Abubakar, the arrest followed actionable intelligence that led a police patrol team to intercept the suspect, identified as Basiru Abdullahi, on August 27, 2025, at about 11:00 p.m. in Suru District.

Abdullahi was found in possession of two cattle believed to have been stolen. During interrogation, he confessed to conspiring with four others, Garba Chairman Datti, Ja’e Ango, and two accomplices still at large, to steal three cows belonging to one Sarkin Fulani Usman of Suru.

The stolen cows were reportedly sold for N500,000 to Safiyanu Aliyu of Jega town and Naziru Danmanu, who remains at large. The police also recovered a green Toyota vehicle with registration number Naija-Minna 708XB, used in the operation.

The case has been transferred to the State Criminal Investigation Department in Birnin Kebbi for further investigation and to track down the remaining suspects.
