Two students have died and two others are currently receiving treatment after being assaulted by their schoolmates at Government Secondary School, Bichi, in Kano State.

According to a post on Wednesday by security analyst Zagazola Makama on X, and confirmed by the Kano State Police Command, the tragic incident occurred late on Sunday night.

The school principal, Yusuf Ado Yakasai, reported the incident to the police on Monday, July 15. He said that at about 11:30 p.m. on July 14, a group of senior students allegedly lured four fellow students, Hamza Idris (19, SS3B), Umar Yusuf (18, SS2C), Ibrahim Ibrahim (SS2B), and Aliyu M. Nasir (SS2C), into one of the hostels, where they were brutally attacked over accusations of involvement in what was described as “unnatural offences.”

The victims were immediately taken to Bichi General Hospital. However, Idris and Yusuf were pronounced dead, while Ibrahim and Nasir are currently hospitalized and said to be responding to treatment.

Police said twelve suspects have been arrested in connection with the incident. They include: Suleman Abdullahi, Ahmad Sanusi, Lawan Alasan Tambai, Aliyu Idris, Abubakar Abdulaziz (all of SS3A); Ibrahim Nura, Hamza Isiyaku (SS3B); Usaini Mamuda, Masaudu Idris, Yasir Murtala (SS3C); and
Abubakar Muhammad (SS3D).

The Kano State Police Command stated that an investigation is ongoing and that those found culpable will face prosecution according to the law.
