Kano Pillars Appoint New Coach

Kano Pillars have confirmed the appointment of Evans Ogenyi as their new coach ahead of the 2025-26 Nigeria Premier Football League.
The widely-travelled Ogenyi is making a return to the club after leading the club to the NPFL from the Nigeria National League in 2023.
Kano Pillars announced his appointment as their new Technical Adviser in a statement on their social media account on Thursday
The Statement read: “We are pleased to announce that Kano Pillars FC has reached an agreement to appoint Mr. Ogenyi Evans as our new Technical Adviser ahead of the 2025/2026 football season. He will assume duties with immediate effect.
“Details of his contract will be communicated in due course.”
He replaces Usman Abdallah, who left the role in June due to personal reasons.
Ogenyi left Rivers United following the expiration of his contract in June after he was drafted into the coaching staff during the 2023-24 NFPL season.
He holds the CAF License A, CAF Intermediate Coaching Certificate, and the FIFA High-Level Coaching Certificate.
He led Lobi Stars FC to promotion from Division 2 to Division 1 in 1998.
He has held various roles, including Chief Coach and Technical Adviser at Enyimba International FC, Rivers United FC, and Nasarawa United FC.
Ogenyi’s extensive list of achievements includes guiding Lobi Stars FC to the CAF Champions League quarterfinals, winning the NPFL title with the club in 2018, and securing multiple FA Cup victories. His contributions to Nigerian football have been recognized at the highest levels, including success with Enyimba in the CAF Champions League and Federation Cup.
Ogenyi has been tasked with returning the Sai Masu Gida to the top of the NPFL after they finished ninth last season.
