Kano by-elections: Officers filmed assisting politician with cash sharing undergoing disciplinary action – Police
The Kano State Police Command says it has begun disciplinary action against five officers caught in a viral video helping a politician organize people to receive cash.
In a statement on Tuesday, the Police Public Relations Officer, SP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, explained that the incident happened on July 10, 2025, after a ceremony at the Coronation Hall of the Kano State Government House.
He stressed that the event had nothing to do with the re-run and by-elections held in Kano on August 16.
“The investigation revealed that the officers were deployed for security at the event, during which they were regrettably seen engaging in unprofessional conduct,” the statement revealed.
He added that the command will not overlook misconduct.
“Appropriate disciplinary actions are being taken against the erring officers to maintain the integrity and professionalism of the Nigeria Police Force,” he assured.
The spokesman also reiterated that the police remain committed to discipline and ethics.
“We want to assure the public that we will continue to uphold the highest standards of professionalism and retain the trust and confidence of citizens,” he added.
