Key figures in the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Kano State have thrown their full support behind President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for a second term in 2027.
They also restated their firm loyalty to the party’s leader in the state, Dr. Abdullahi Umar Ganduje.
The endorsement was made during a high-level meeting held on Tuesday at Ganduje’s residence in Kano, according to SolaceBase.
The gathering focused on strengthening unity within the party, getting ready for upcoming elections, and discussing the progress made so far under President Tinubu, especially in Northern Nigeria and Kano State.
Speaking at the meeting, the APC Chairman in Kano, Abdullahi Abbas, said the event was aimed at settling internal issues and preparing the party to defeat its rivals in the next general election.
“We are fully committed to the success of President Tinubu and our great party. This meeting is about consolidating our base, strengthening our unity, and positioning the APC to win convincingly in 2027,” he said.
Abbas noted that the party is open to reconciliation and expansion, adding that APC is willing to welcome members of the Kwankwasiyya movement—if they choose to switch sides.
“If Kwankwasiyya members are ready to join us in the APC, we will welcome them. But if they remain in opposition, we will confront them decisively at the polls,” he warned.
During the meeting, party leaders also defended the Tinubu administration against claims of favoritism in the distribution of federal projects. They highlighted various ongoing initiatives across the North, especially in Kano, and praised the president’s efforts to promote inclusive development nationwide.
The meeting was attended by top APC members including former Kano governorship candidate Nasiru Yusuf Gawuna, Minister of State for the FCT Dr. Mariya Bunkure, Senator Kawu Sumaila, as well as federal lawmakers Alhassan Ado Doguwa, Abubakar Kabir Bichi, and Sani Bala Tsanyawa. Also present were members of the Kano State House of Assembly, senior federal appointees from the state, and other party officials.
Attendees agreed to work together to maintain the APC’s stronghold in Kano and to ensure victory for the party at both state and federal levels in 2027.
