Kaduna security: ABU VC praises Governor Uba Sani’s peace initiatives
The Vice-Chancellor of Ahmadu Bello University, Zaria, Professor Adamu Ahmed, has commended Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State for the remarkable progress made in ensuring peace and security across the state, particularly in Southern Kaduna and Birnin Gwari, where violent conflicts had previously claimed many innocent lives.
Ahmed, who made the observation during a courtesy visit to the Governor at Sir Kashim Ibrahim House, praised the governor’s commitment to peacebuilding, describing it as pragmatic and result-yielding, and highlighted his efforts to foster coexistence among the state’s diverse communities.
According to him, “the relative peace and security in the state had created a conducive environment for academic and economic activities to thrive.”
He also lauded the governor’s people-centred policies, including initiatives in education, agriculture, and transportation, stressing that the peace efforts have had a significant impact on the state’s development, reflecting the governor’s effective leadership.
During the visit, the Vice-Chancellor raised pressing challenges facing the university, including dilapidated infrastructure and land disputes.
In response, Governor Sani directed an out-of-court settlement for the Mando land dispute, allocated land for staff housing, and reaffirmed his commitment to upgrading the university’s road network.
Professor Ahmed assured the Governor of the university community’s readiness to collaborate with the state government to achieve shared goals and objectives.
