Kaduna Police Restrict Movement in Four LGAs For Bye-Elections

The Kaduna State Police Command has announced a restriction of movement in four local government areas ahead of Saturday’s bye-elections in the state.
The affected councils are Sabon Gari, Zaria, Chikun, and Kajuru.
Police Public Relations Officer DSP Mansir Hassan said in a statement on Friday that the restriction would take effect from midnight on Saturday, August 16, 2025.
According to him, the measure is part of security arrangements to ensure public safety, prevent a breach of peace and guarantee a smooth and orderly electoral process.
He said, “The Kaduna State Police Command wishes to announce and respectfully inform members of the public that there will be a restriction of movement on Saturday, 16th August 2025, from 12:00am in the following Local Government Areas: Sabon Gari, Zaria, Chikun, and Kajuru.
“This is part of security arrangements put in place ahead of the upcoming bye-elections in the affected areas, with the aim of ensuring public safety, preventing any breach of peace and guaranteeing a smooth and orderly electoral process.”
The PPRO noted that only personnel on essential duties and those with valid election assignments would be exempted from the restriction.
He called on residents to “conduct themselves peacefully and cooperate with security agencies to ensure a hitch-free election.”
