The Kaduna State Police Command-led Task Force has announced the arrest of 398 suspects within nine days of an intensive joint security operation across the state.

The operation, supported by other security agencies, has also resulted in the recovery of a locally made pistol, 29 stolen mobile handsets, dangerous weapons, and various illicit drugs.

The crackdown, which is part of a coordinated effort initiated by the Kaduna State Government, has been described as one of the most comprehensive security operations in recent times.

The multi-agency task force includes the Nigeria Police Force, the military, Department of State Services (DSS), Civil Defence, NDLEA, Immigration, Correctional Services, and others such as the Kaduna Vigilance Service (KADVIS) and the Kaduna State Traffic Law Enforcement Authority (KASTLEA).

A statement released on the operation’s progress on Friday by the Public Relations Officer of the state Command, DSP Mansir Hassan, “the first nine days of this operation have yielded significant results. We have successfully arrested 398 suspects across various parts of the state. The swift and intelligence-driven nature of the raids has forced many criminal elements to flee Kaduna State out of fear of apprehension.”

The police spokesman said among those arrested were Mathew Adamu, a notorious gang leader known for terrorizing communities, and Adamu Umar, a suspected drug dealer.

Hassan confirmed that a locally made pistol was recovered from Mathew Adamu, while Adamu Umar’s case has been transferred to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and prosecution.

He said the operation also saw the recovery of 29 stolen mobile phones, some of which have already been returned to their rightful owners after proper identification and verification.

According to him, dangerous weapons and a significant quantity of illicit drugs were also seized during the raids.

He said, “Sequel to the establishment of a Special Task Force by the Kaduna State Government, comprising the Nigeria Police Force as the lead agency, The military, DSS, Civil defence, Nigeria Immigration, The Correctional Service, NDLEA, Federal Road Safety, Nigeria Customs, others includes Kadvis and KASTLEA.

“Kaduna State Police Command wishes to inform the general public of major breakthroughs recorded in the ongoing fight against all forms of criminality across the state.

“Among those apprehended is Mathew Adamu, a notorious criminal and gang leader known for terrorizing communities whom a locally made Pistol was recovered from and Adamu Umar, a well-known drug dealer whose case will be transferred to the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) for further investigation and prosecution.

“In addition to the arrests, the operation led to the recovery of various dangerous weapons, illicit drugs, and 29 stolen mobile handsets, some of which have already been returned to their rightful owners following proper identification and verification.”
He quoted the Commissioner of Police in Kaduna State, Rabiu Muhammad, to have praised the dedication and effectiveness of the task force.

He reaffirmed the command’s commitment to sustaining the operation until Kaduna is completely sanitized of criminal activities.

“This clampdown is just the beginning. Our officers and all members of the task force are on high alert and remain fully committed to restoring peace and order in Kaduna State. We will not rest until every corner of this state is free from criminal elements.” ENDS.
