Kaduna Man Who Breached Security Tinubu Supporter With Mental Condition, Say Police

The Kaduna State Police Command has issued an official statement to clarify a viral video circulating on social media that depicts an incident involving a supporter during President Bola Tinubu’s visit to Kaduna State.
According to the Command, the video, which has sparked widespread speculation, was doctored and misrepresented to create a false narrative.
The individual in question, Umar Mohammed, a native of Anguwan Muazu in Kaduna, was identified as an ardent supporter of the All Progressives Congress (APC), despite living with psychiatric challenges.
THE WHISTLER reports that the event took place at Murtala Square, where Mohammed, dressed in a campaign T-shirt and holding banners bearing the images of the President and the Governor, was among other supporters admitted after thorough screening.
A statement signed by the Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Mansir Hassan, on Friday, explained: “Preliminary investigations revealed that Umar Mohammed breached the protocol by barging into the restricted perimeter fence and jumping into the arena out of curiosity and excitement to catch a closer glimpse of the President. He acted out of anxiety and emotional excitement, expressing a long-held desire to meet with the Governor and the President.
“The individual in question is one Umar Mohammed, a native of Anguwan muazu in Kaduna. He was born with psychiatric disorders he is of unsound mind. He is an ardent supporter of Mr. President and the Governor according to our findings.
“Nevertheless he was screened and admitted into the stadium as an APC supporter, wearing the standard campaign T-shirt and carrying banners bearing the images of the President and the Governor, like every other supporter screened and admitted into the Stadium by the event screening team.”
The Command confirmed that security personnel within the inner cordon immediately intercepted and arrested the individual. Following a thorough search, no incriminating items were found on him.
Hassan quoted the State Commissioner of Police, Rabiu Muhammad, to have cautioned members of the public against spreading false information or politicizing security matters for political gain.
“It is important to note that the viral video was doctored and misrepresented with the intent to distort the true nature of the incident,” he said
The Command further revealed that the matter was under investigation and that individuals found culpable in spreading falsehoods would be invited for questioning and prosecuted if necessary.
The Police urged citizens to exercise restraint and verify information before sharing it on social media, especially when it pertains to sensitive security matters.
“The Kaduna State Police Command remains committed to ensuring the safety of all citizens while protecting the integrity of official events,” Hassan stated.
