Kaduna Governor Appoints New State Media Boss

Governor Uba Sani of Kaduna State has appointed Ben Kure as the new Managing Director of the Kaduna State Media Corporation, following the elevation of the former MD, Ahmed Maiyaki, to the position of Commissioner for Information.
This was contained in a statement signed by the Chief Press Secretary to the Governor, Ibraheem Musa, on Sunday.
Kure, a seasoned public communications expert and political strategist, is expected to build on what the governor described as the “excellent foundation” laid by Maiyaki, which has repositioned the KSMC into a strategic platform for effective dissemination and management of government information.
“Mr. Ben Kure is a public communication expert and political strategist. He brings to his new assignment a wealth of experience in public service, banking, and media engagement,” the statement read in part.
The new KSMC boss has held key positions in the Kaduna State Government and the private sector.
Notably, he served as Chairman of Jaba Local Government Area between 2016 and 2017, and later as the Executive Secretary of the Kaduna State Emergency Management Agency (SEMA) from 2018 to 2019.
Kure also served as Special Adviser on Political Matters to Governor Nasir El-Rufai between 2019 and 2021, a role that saw him actively involved in grassroots mobilization and policy communication across the state.
His banking career includes stints as Branch Manager at Oceanic Bank PLC/Ecobank Nigeria PLC between 2010 and 2012, Team Leader at Zenith Bank PLC from 2005 to 2006, and Public Sector Team Leader at Broad Bank between 2003 and 2004.
A graduate of Geography and Planning with a Bachelor of Science (Hons) degree, Kure also holds a Master’s degree in Conflict, Peace, and Strategic Studies.
He is a Corporate Member of the Chartered Institute of Bankers of Nigeria (CIBN), and a Member of the Institute of Management Consultants (MIMC).
Governor Uba Sani, while congratulating Kure, described his appointment as a “well-deserved recognition” of service and professionalism.
“I am confident that Mr. Ben Kure will bring his deep experience and understanding of public engagement to bear in consolidating the gains recorded in our media communications architecture. KSMC must continue to serve as the government’s credible mouthpiece and bridge with the people,” the governor said.
The Governor also wished the new MD divine guidance and protection in his new assignment.
Kure’s appointment is expected to further bolster the state’s communication strategy amid rising demands for transparency, community engagement, and inclusive governance.
