Kaduna: Deadly ambush on Bantang–Dogon Fili road leaves one dead
A deadly ambush by unknown gunmen along the Bantang–Dogon Fili highway in Jema’a Local Government Area of Kaduna State has left one person dead, three others injured, and one briefly abducted.
The attack, which happened around 9:40 p.m. on Monday, July 7, was reported by security analyst Zagazola Makama in a post on X on Wednesday.
According to the report, the victims were travelling in a Toyota Picnic vehicle when they were suddenly attacked by armed men.
“One of the passengers, 38-year-old Iliya John from Dogon Fili Village, was attacked with machetes and other weapons. He was rushed to the General Hospital in Kafanchan but was later confirmed dead.
“Two other passengers, James Ishaya (39) and Elisha Mallam (38), both from Antang Village, suffered serious injuries and are currently receiving medical treatment.
“Another victim, 35-year-old Danladi Idris from Lere Local Government Area, who was driving a different vehicle, was kidnapped during the attack and taken to an unknown location,” Makama wrote.
Makama noted that the quick action of security forces and local vigilantes, rescued Danladi Idris and who is now receiving medical care.
“The body of the deceased was released to his family for burial according to Christian traditions, after the family declined a post-mortem examination.
“Security agencies have launched a search for the attackers and promised to bring those responsible to justice,” Makama wrote.
