Kaduna APC chieftain hails Assembly’s investigation of El-Rufai
A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress, APC, and Renewed Hope ambassador, Jada Garki, has praised moves by the Kaduna State government and State House of Assembly to ensure former governor Nasir El-Rufai accounts for his stewardship of the state.
According to Garki, the ongoing probe of El-Rufai’s administration is a step in the right direction towards accountability, not betrayal.
He explained that any former governor or president, regardless of office, is obliged to give an account; taking offence at such scrutiny is unjust, and anyone supporting them on that basis is also unjust.
Garki emphasised that the call for El-Rufai to answer questions did not come from Governor Uba Sani but from the legislature, describing it as a constitutionally empowered institution.
He stated: “This call did not come from Governor Uba Sani. It came from the (Kaduna State) Assembly, whose members belong to different political parties. Do you think lawmakers would unite just to satisfy one man’s interest? No. The issue here is the wealth of Kaduna people.”
Garki also accused El-Rufai of hypocrisy, recalling his controversial remarks on banditry and security, including his claim of having a private security network “bigger than the police”, saying such statements are unbecoming of a former governor who seeks to provide solutions to challenges in the state or country.
