JAMB Releases Mop-Up Exam Results

The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has released the results of the mop-up Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination(UTME) held on June 28, 2025.

JAMB disclosed that out of the 96,838 candidates scheduled for the exercise, 11,161 candidates who were present have had their results released.

According to JAMB, candidates who are unable to access their results did not fully comply with the instruction to send “UTMERESULT” to 55019/66019 from the same phone number (SIM) with which they registered for the UTME.

The mop-up examination was necessitated by allegations of widespread absences in the main examination, with the Board opting to give everyone a second chance while also leveraging intelligence gathered from security agencies.

However, the turnout was alarmingly low, with only about 12 percent of registered candidates showing up across the country.

JAMB Registrar, Prof. Ishaq Oloyede, attributed the low turnout to intensified security measures targeting impersonators and exam cheats.

He noted that some CBT centres expecting 250 candidates per session recorded fewer than 20 attendees, which he said was anticipated due to the presence of syndicates involved in examination malpractice.

Oloyede also disclosed that some individuals attempted to cheat by falsely declaring themselves as albino in a bid to exploit facial recognition vulnerabilities. He said the Board had identified over 1,787 candidates who claimed to be albino, but investigations revealed that most of them were not genuine.

The JAMB boss warned that suspected impersonators who failed to take the exam after alleging exclusion from the main UTME would not escape accountability.

He added that parents found financing examination malpractice schemes for their children would soon face investigation and possible prosecution.
