Iwobi Beats Kanu’s Premier League Record

Super Eagles star Alex Iwobi has overtaken Nwankwo Kanu as the second Nigerian player with the highest number of appearances in the English Premier League.
The 28-year-old achieved the feat in Fulham’s 3-2 loss to West Ham, which was his 274th appearance in the English top-flight league.
Iwobi scored a brace in the encounter to take his tally to seven goals in 21 appearances for Fulham this season.
The former Arsenal star moved ahead of Nwankwo Kanu into second on the list.
Kanu enjoyed a successful time in the Premier League, first with Arsenal, West Brom, and Portsmouth, where he made 273 appearances for the three clubs.
Former Newcastle United forward Shola Amoebi tops the list with 298 appearances, mostly for the Magpies in the Premier League. He scored 43 goals and recorded 20 assists.
Iwobi made 100 appearances for Arsenal before he joined Everton in 2019; he appeared for the Toffees 123 times.
His appearance against West Ham was his 51st for the Cottagers in the Premier League.
He has now scored more Premier League goals for Fulham than Arsenal and Everton, with a total of 12 strikes for the club since joining them last summer.
Iwobi has also moved up to seventh on the list of Nigerian goalscorers in the Premier League with 29 goals.
