Ireti Kingibe Seeks Women’s Inclusion In Housing Sector Decision-Making

Senator Ireti Kingibe, representing the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), has made a strong case for the inclusion of women in key decision-making roles across the housing, governance, and economic development sectors.

Speaking during a courtesy visit to the Africa International Housing Show (AIHS) in Abuja, Senator Kingibe emphasized the importance of gender inclusion, calling it a vital aspect of national progress.

In a statement issued by the AIHS on Sunday, Senator Kingibe, a seasoned engineer and advocate for women’s empowerment, highlighted the need for equitable representation of women in shaping policies that impact their lives.

“Women must be given a seat at the table in shaping policies that affect their lives. Gender inclusion is not a privilege but a necessity for national progress,” she said during her visit.

The senator’s call for action comes as part of her continued efforts to promote inclusive governance and gender equity, particularly as Nigeria marks International Women’s Day 2025, with the theme “Accelerate Action.”

According to the statement, Senator Kingibe, who is the second female senator to represent the FCT, has consistently pushed for infrastructural development and gender equality since her election in 2023 under the Labour Party.

“A fellow of the Nigerian Society of Engineers and a graduate of the University of Minnesota, Kingibe brings a wealth of experience to her advocacy, having worked across both the public and private sectors.

“In addition to her focus on gender inclusion, Senator Kingibe has been instrumental in addressing the infrastructural needs of her constituents. In recent months, she commissioned the construction of the 0.6-kilometer Ishan Road in Karu, a satellite town within the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC).

” The project, facilitated through the Federal Ministry of Agriculture and Food Security, is one of many initiatives aimed at improving basic amenities in the FCT.

, “Her leadership extends beyond infrastructure. In the healthcare sector, she recently led the groundbreaking ceremony for a 50-bed hospital in Dobi, Gwagwalada, responding to long-standing demands from the community.

“During a recent visit to Kawu in Bwari Area Council, Senator Kingibe engaged with local leaders, who raised concerns about dilapidated infrastructure, youth unemployment, and the need for better schools”, the statement stated.
