Investors Boost FCMB Trading Despite Flat Share Price

Despite a steady market value, FCMB experienced a surge in trading volume and value as investors responded to the company’s earnings forecast.

According to data from the Nigerian Exchange (NGX), FCMB’s share price remained unchanged at N10.50, maintaining a market capitalisation of N415.856 billion based on its 39.605 billion outstanding shares.

While the market value stayed flat, trading volume was significant, with 460.948 million FCMB shares exchanged, indicating a possible block trade arranged by brokers.

Overall, trading on the local exchange ended mixed, with total trade volume falling by 47.50% but total trade value increasing by 14.50%.

FCMB led the volume chart on Monday, accounting for 48.68% of all shares traded on the exchange.

It was also the most traded stock by value, representing 26.38% of the total value of transactions.

In its earnings forecast, FCMB projects a net income of N58.821 billion for Q4 of the 2025 financial year, with gross earnings expected to reach N265.203 billion.

Net interest income is forecast at N115.756 billion, while operating income is anticipated to hit N149.121 billion, supported by foreign exchange earnings, trading gains, transaction commissions, and other miscellaneous sources.

Due to challenges related to asset quality, FCMB estimates impairment charges on loan losses at N14.123 billion and expects operating expenses to exceed N69 billion during the period.
