Inter Milan Tables €40 Million Bid for Ademola Lookman as Player Pushes for San Siro Move

Italian Serie A powerhouses Inter Milan are stepping up their attempts to capture Atalanta’s prolific Nigerian attacker, Ademola Lookman, for the upcoming campaign after formally putting in a €40 million bid.

Ademola Lookman has agreed to personal terms with Inter and expressed his strong desire to leave Atalanta, which prompted the move.

Prominent transfer expert Fabrizio Romano and other Italian media sites claim that Oaktree Capital, Inter Milan’s owners, have accepted the €40 million offer for the 27-year-old Super Eagles player.

‘‘Ademola Lookman, keen on Inter move after further contacts tonight with his camp. He told Atalanta he wants to leave.

‘‘Inter will soon submit their initial bid for Nigerian forward, while Atalanta insist on more than €40m for Italian clubs.’’ Romano wrote on his official X page (formerly Twitter).

Inter Milan’s real desire to secure the signature of the player is demonstrated by their willingness to pay Atalanta this sum up front without having to sell any players first.

Lookman, who won the African Footballer of the Year award and had a fantastic 2023–2024 season that included a record hat-trick in the Europa League final, has made it known that he wants to come to San Siro. He has told Atalanta that he wishes to leave this summer after speaking with his representatives one more time.

But Atalanta are sticking to their valuation and demanding that Lookman be paid for at least €50 million, particularly from Italian teams.

This €10 million valuation discrepancy is still a major obstacle, even if the two teams are now engaged in direct talks. Inter is apparently unwilling to raise its initial offer of €40 million, despite Lookman’s zeal.
