Imo Govt To Enroll Over Two Million Residents Into Health Insurance Scheme

The Imo State Government is set to enroll 2.7 million residents into the state’s Health Insurance Scheme.
The government’s move according to the Executive Secretary of Imo State Health Insurance Scheme, Uchenna Ewelike, is the largest single health insurance enrollment in Sub-Saharan Africa.
He said the move which he termed daring will cover about 2.7 million persons across 654 communities, with a distribution of 100,000 per local government area of the state will commence from the 20th day of March.
He said: “We are challenging the statuesque, daring the Nigerian Universal Health Coverage drive.
“From Tuesday May 20th 2025, we are commencing the largest single health insurance enrollment in Sub Saharan Africa, 2.7million enrollees in 654 communities @ 100,000/LGA by the Imo State Health Insurance Agency.”
