The Imo State Government through the Imo State Oil Producing Areas Development Commission (ISOPADEC), has commenced the construction of a 20-bed ultra-modern hospital in Umuorji, Egbema, Ohaji-Egbema LGA.

The Managing Director of ISOPADEC, Austin Onyedebelu who represented the governor at the flag ceremony disclosed that the facility is an integral component of a larger initiative aimed at offering free healthcare services to all local residents by facilitating their enrollment in the state’s health insurance program.

He said: “This hospital is not just a structure; it is a testament to Governor Uzodimma’s commitment to bringing healthcare to the grassroots. Health is wealth, and this project aligns with His Excellency’s vision of a healthier Imo.”

Onyedebelu also addressed the youth of the community, encouraging them to reject vandalism and embrace responsibility for the project and highlighted that the facility is a communal property and must be safeguarded as an essential asset for the community.

Also, the Governor’s healthcare intervention is extending to Ideato South, Isiala Mbano, and Nwangele LGAs, where similar initiatives are being launched.

During the ceremony, His Royal Highness Eze G.O.H. Ariaga of Egbema expressed profound gratitude, noting, “Health is the foundation of life. We are truly happy and satisfied.

“This project gives us hope and longevity. We thank the Governor for remembering us.”

During the respective groundbreaking ceremonies, Hon. Prince Marcel Amadioha, the Executive Chairman of Ohaji-Egbema; Hon. Chika Okoroike, the Executive Chairman of Isiala Mbano LGA; Hon. Okwara Okechukwu, the Executive Chairman of Ideato South; and Ichie Daniel Mkpadobi, the Deputy Chairman of Nwangele LGA, committed to fully collaborating with the state government to guarantee the efficient and timely implementation of the hospital project within their local government areas.
