Imo Govt Begins Enrollment Of 2.7 Million Residents Into Health Insurance Scheme

The Imo State Government has commenced the enrollment of 2.7 million residents into the state’s Health Insurance Scheme.

The enrollment is across the 654 communities in the 27 local government areas, and each local government area is expected to register about 100,000 residents.

According to the Executive Secretary of the Imo State Health Insurance Scheme, Uchenna Ewelike, the scheme is the largest single health insurance enrollment in Sub-Saharan Africa.

He said, “We are challenging the status quo, daring the Nigerian Universal Health Coverage drive.”

The enrollment fully commenced on Wednesday, and registrations were seamless, and we are witnessing a good turnout of residents, too.
