I’ll Manage Anambra Better Than Soludo, Says APC’s Ukachukwu
Prince Nicholas Ukachukwu, the All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship candidate, has declared his commitment to revitalise Anambra State through effective governance and a closer partnership with the federal government.
Speaking at a homecoming event organised by the Dennis Memorial Grammar School (DMGS) Old Boys Association Worldwide, Ukachukwu said his administration, if elected, would prioritise development, economic growth, and an end to the state’s current challenges.
Ukachukwu, an alumnus of DMGS, asserted that it is “the turn of a Dengramite to be Governor of Anambra State” when he received the old boys.
He called on his fellow alumni to support his bid in the November 8 governorship election, noting DMGS’s legacy of producing “many great names, talented, intelligent, and resourceful men” who have excelled in various sectors, though not yet as governor.
“My alma mater is excited because they know we can fix Anambra,” he said, adding “Anyone that passed through DMGS can solve any problem.”
He accused the Charles Soludo administration of failing to utilise federal resources effectively for benefit of the people.
“Our President has moved enough security and money to Anambra State, but the government of Anambra State is not managing them well,” Ukachukwu claimed.
He also promised to align the state more closely with the federal government.
“Now, Anambra State is going to be a part and parcel of the Federal Republic under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,” he added.
On economic development, Ukachukwu said “If you start businesses without those enablers, they will die. It is like planting a crop on a concrete floor,” he said.
He claimed that many factories in Anambra have shut down and become “glorified warehouses,” urging a revival of the state’s industrial base.
Ukachukwu also addressed security and poverty, saying, “Even when there is security, you should empower people, carry people along, remove hunger through stomach infrastructure.”
He linked crime to economic hardship, stating, “Some kidnappers are not into crime because they want to, but because they chose wrongly out of frustration.”
The President-General of the Old Boys Association, Sunny Chuba Nwachukwu, and the DMGS Principal, Chigozie Anieto, both wished Ukachukwu success in the upcoming election.
They also urged him to support the school’s centenary celebrations by sponsoring the upcoming DOBA Convention in July and contributing to ongoing infrastructure projects.
