IGP To Strengthen Port Surveillance
The Inspector-General of Police, Olukayode Adeolu Egbetokun, on Tuesday, reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to ensuring security across the marine and blue economy sector to stimulate economic growth.
Egbetokun made this known while receiving the Chief Executive Officer of the Nigerian Shippers’ Council (NSC), Dr. Akutah Pius Ukeyima, and his delegation at the IGP Smart Conference Room, Louis Edet House, Abuja.
A statement issued by the Force Public Relations Officer, ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, acknowledged the NSC’s significant contribution to national economic development.
He assured the delegation of sustained collaboration, particularly in securing port environments and supporting enforcement operations.
He stressed the readiness of the Force to intensify collaboration with the Council’s Joint Task Teams to fulfill both institutions’ mandates in the interest of national development.
“The Nigeria Police Force remains committed to fostering impactful partnerships with critical stakeholders in both the public and private sectors.
“Through sustained collaboration with agencies such as the Nigerian Shippers’ Council, the Force continues to strengthen national security architecture, enhance institutional efficiency, and promote initiatives that align with its mission of ensuring public safety and national progress,” Egbetokun said.
Earlier in his remarks, Akutah expressed gratitude for the warm reception and praised the longstanding partnership between the Council and the Nigeria Police Force.
He highlighted the Police’s critical support in the Council’s regulatory and enforcement duties, including the implementation of the Nigerian Port Manual.
According to him, the collaboration has boosted transparency and operational efficiency, especially along port corridors.
Akutah also called for continued support from the Police to enforce compliance, strengthen surveillance, and assist monitoring teams nationwide.
