Hundreds of indigenes of Ibadan in Oyo State have throng the residence of the Olubadan of Ibadanland, Oba Akinloye Owolabi Olakulehin to sympathise with the family over the passage of the traditional ruler.

DAILY POST reported that the monarch died in the early hours of Monday.

Olakulehin who hailed from Okugbaja compound in Ita Baale Ori Okiti in Ibadan North East local government area was crowned Olubadan on Friday 12th July, 2024.

Our correspondent who visited his residence following hi death announcement at Alalubosa Government Reserved Area in Ibadan on Tuesday, reports that indigenes and mouners have continued to besiege the residence to pay their condolence.

Among the early callers at the Olakulehin residence were members of Central Council of Ibadan Indigenes (CCII).

The CCII delegation was led by its President General, Chief Sulaimon Ajeniyi Ajewole, they were received by Prince Osuolale Owolabi Olakulehin on behalf of the family.

Others who had visited the residence were family heads, members of the Olakulehin family and other residents of the ancient city.

Ajewole in a short speech said the monarch rose from nothing to become Olubadan, noting that the life and time of the traditional ruler is a lesson for everyone.

“We thank God for the life of our great Oba. He rose from nothing to become the Olubadan. Our Kabiesi was a well read person, a former legislator, a former military officer who fought for the unity of Nigeria. He made history as the first Olubadan to occupy the new palace.

“God knows the best. No doubt in my mind that Baba will rest in peace, because he did not do any bad thing to anyone. Many of my friends that knew him extolled his virtues.

“Many people thought that he would not ascend the throne. In his life is a lesson for all of us. He laid the good history. The first Olubadan to live at the new Olubadan palace.

“We did not record any problem in Ibadan during his short reign”.
