I Will Improve Reputation Of Judiciary – Acting CJN, Kekere-Ekun Assures Nigerians
Acting Chief Justice of Nigeria, Justice Kudirat Kekere-Ekun has promised to work tirelessly to improve the reputation of the Judiciary in the country.
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu on Friday inaugurated Kekere-Ekun as the Acting CJN, following the retirement of Justice Olukayode Ariwoola after turning 70.
Speaking to journalists after her swearing in on Friday, Kekere-Ekun said her administration will endure that issues of appointment of judges and discipline will top her list of reforms and called for collaborations to help actualize and improve the sector.
She urged Nigerians to keep faith in the Judiciary assuring them that the sector will be more robust during her tenure.
Kekere-Ekun said, “We will take the judiciary to higher heights, improve the reputation it has, and make sure that we have more confidence in the Judiciary.
“I believe that it is not a one man job, we all have to be on board because we all see the areas where the judiciary needs improvement.
“I believe in cooperation, because we all want to see a better judiciary; a better judiciary is for the benefit of the entire nation.
“As members of the society, if we want to see improvements, let it start from us and our approach to justice, as we have faith in the system
“Let us be more particular about the process of appointments, I know it gives a lot of concern, also the area of discipline on the bench and the bar as well.
“All these are areas we are going to look into and I believe that by the grace of God, at the end of my tenure, we will have a judiciary we can all be proud of,” the acting CJN said.
