HYPREP Conducts Factory Acceptance Test For 10 Transformers In China
The Hydrocarbon Pollution Remediation Project (HYPREP) has taken a significant step towards delivering a fit-for-purpose power transmission line and substations in Ogoniland.
A technical delegation led by the Project Coordinator, Prof. Nenibarini Zabbey, recently conducted a Factory Acceptance Test for transformers at JSB Zhejiang Jiangshan Transformer Co., Ltd. in Jiangshan, China.
The test, which took place from May 22nd to 24th, 2025, was attended by HYPREP’s technical team, representatives of the Ogoni Power contractor, Energovod Engineering Ltd., and the project supervision consultant, Oska-Jo and Partners Ltd.
The team inspected four 60 MVA Power Transformers and six 300 kVA earthing transformers for the Bodo and Wiiyaakara Substations.
Satisfied with the equipment’s functionality and compliance with contract specifications, Prof. Zabbey signed off on the test results, authorizing the shipment of the equipment.
This development marks a crucial milestone in the Ogoni Power Project, which aims to provide a reliable and efficient power supply to the region.
Notably, 40 containers of tested power equipment shipped from India and China have already been received at the Wiiyaakara Substation.
The successful completion of the Factory Acceptance Test brings HYPREP closer to achieving its goal of delivering a state-of-the-art power infrastructure in Ogoniland.
And the OPP’s progress is a testament to the project’s commitment to revitalizing the region’s infrastructure and promoting economic development.
With the transformers set to be shipped, the project is on course to meet its objectives and bring much-needed power to the people of Ogoniland.
