A hunter has been found dead in Adamawa State in circumstances that are yet to be established.

The hunter, identified as Joseph Ardo, was of Kuma, a village in Suktu District of Song Local Government Area, where the incident occurred.

A source, Atenka John, has said the deceased, who was one of the hunters maintaining law in the area, was killed by some uniformed security personnel.

Mr. John alleged that the said security personnel took away the deceased on the night of last Saturday, and his lifeless body was found in the bush the next day with his throat cut.

John then called on heads of security agencies, particularly the Nigerian Army and the Police, to investigate the matter.

According to him, the killing of the hunter has set the community on edge and needs to be given peace of mind.

Reacting to the development, the Adamawa State Command of the Nigeria Police said it has launched an investigation into the matter.

The State Police Public Relations Officer, SP Suleiman Nguroje, said the Commissioner of Police has ordered the Divisional Police Officer of Song Division to ensure that the perpetrators of the act are brought to face the law.

Nguroje appealed to the people of the area to remain calm, as the police will ensure justice in the matter.
