A local hunter was injured during a joint rescue operation by the Nigerian Army to free two abducted seminarians from Ivianakpodi Minor Seminary, Agenebode, Edo State.

According to a post shared on X by security analyst Zagazola Makama on Monday, the operation, supported by vigilantes and hunters, targeted a suspected kidnappers’ hideout in the Alarke village area, beyond Awara in Kogi State.

The source revealed that the troops, alongside local vigilantes and hunters, advanced into the suspected location around 5:15 a.m. on Sunday.

“During the operation, the team was ambushed by the kidnappers, resulting in gunshot injuries to Mohammed Abubakar, a 30-year-old hunter,” Makama wrote.

He was promptly taken to Cross Nations Consultant Hospital in Lokoja for treatment.

Efforts to safely rescue the abducted seminarians and apprehend the suspects are ongoing.

The Nigerian Army commended the support of the vigilantes and hunters, assuring that the victims would soon be released.
