How Police Rescued Kidnapped Lady In Lagos Within Hours By Olawale Olaleye

Nigeria Police, Thank You!

Some members of the Nigeria Police Force may have their excesses like several others or institutions that are also products of the system.

But I have always stood against painting everyone, tribes, religions, or institutions with the same brush. That would be too absolute and can’t pass a simple test of logic.

The truth is that whenever the police want to work conscientiously, they do so with dispatch, effectively, and without holding anything back.

This is why I’m dedicating this positive mention to the good of the police as a reliable ally in the Nigerian project.

What’s the story?

This morning, Thursday, March 20, at about 9, a friend called me in Abuja and lamented a cousin of hers, who was job-hunting was lured from Abuja to Lagos, yesterday, and upon arriving Lagos, it turned out they were kidnappers.

The lady was abducted, and they immediately reached out to her folks, demanding money. Unfortunately, the lady, a Cameroonian, speaks more of French.

At first, I was angry at her stupidity, especially when her supposed job providers had demanded money to process her application. It was evidently a fraud. She’s naive.

In spite of my anger, I told her I’d see what to do, and immediately, I reached out to the police spokesperson in Lagos, Mr. Benjamin Hundeyin, who demanded the details and forwarded to another Superintendent of Police, Mr. Gbolahan Adeyemi, in the Ibeju Lekki axis.

To my shock, the police swung into action, and within two hours, they rescued the lady and arrested the criminals in an operation that claimed no casualties.

I got the message: “She has been rescued,” accompanied by her picture at exactly 11.01am. I’m more than impressed. This is stellar and worthy of crucial mention. This is the police story I always want to hear because it will inspire the Nigerian dream.

I’d like to state for the record that for the few times I had called Mr. Hundeyin for interventions in anything, he assisted very well.

Thank you for always embracing this arduous police work with ease, joy, and peace. I do not take your professionalism for granted, sir.

God bless you and the entire police force. Amen!
