High Electric Voltage Kills Four In Katsina
Four people have lost their lives after a faulty power line supplied high voltage to residential homes in the Sabuwar Unguwa community of Katsina State.
The incident occurred Friday evening after two high-tension lines reportedly clashed during a windstorm, resulting in abnormal electricity flow to homes in the area.
The victims were electrocuted while using regular household appliances, particularly refrigerators. Three people, two women and a man, died instantly, while a fourth victim later succumbed at the hospital.
One of the deceased, a mother of three, was electrocuted while attempting to switch off the family fridge, according to her husband, Sani Ibrahim.
Eight other victims suffered burns to their hands and backs and are currently receiving treatment, with three hospitalised at the Federal Teaching Hospital, Katsina.
The power surge also damaged over 55 refrigerators and other household appliances.
The Kano Electricity Distribution Company (KEDCO), which supplies electricity to Katsina State, has yet to provide a formal statement.
The victims have been buried according to Islamic rites.
