Armed men have kidnapped Devid Ali Gwantu, serving councilor of Gwantu Ward in Sanga Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

The incident was disclosed on Friday in a post on X by Bakatsine, a conflict and crisis journalist covering insecurity in Nigeria’s northwest.

According to Bakatsine, the incident occurred in the early morning of Friday.

He wrote: “Armed men have kidnapped Hon. Devid Ali Gwantu, serving councilor of Gwantu Ward in Sanga LGA, Kaduna State.

“Gunmen stormed his home early Friday morning, whisking him away in front of his family. His whereabouts remain unknown.”

The abduction adds to the growing wave of kidnappings targeting citizens in Kaduna and other northern states.

Security authorities are yet to issue an official statement on the incident.
