Grandson Of Late Music Icon, Comfort Omoge, Stabbed To Death In Ondo
A grandson of late music legend, Comfort Omoge, has been killed following a violent encounter with a scavenger in Okitipupa Local Council of Ondo State.
The deceased, identified as Ogoirawo Omoge, who was also a musician, was stabbed in the throat during a confrontation with the suspect along the Ayeka/Igodan-Igbokoda highway. The incident, which occurred after a minor disagreement, quickly escalated into a fatal altercation.
According to a community source, the suspect pulled out a dagger and slit Omoge’s throat before fleeing the scene. Efforts by bystanders to save the victim proved abortive, as he was pronounced dead on arrival at a nearby hospital.
Police spokesperson in the state, Olayinka Ayanlade, confirmed the incident, noting that a suspect has been arrested and is currently in custody.
In response to growing tension in the community, Chairman of Okitipupa Local Council, Mr Andrew Ogunsakin, convened a meeting with local leaders, including traditional rulers, youth groups, and representatives of the Hausa/Fulani community, to ease the strain and reinforce peaceful coexistence.
Ogunsakin disclosed that the suspect, identified as Machido Abubakar, was apprehended through a joint effort between residents and security agencies. He appealed for calm and assured the family of the deceased of the council’s support in the pursuit of justice.
