Gov. Yusuf reassigns agency heads in waste, climate, other sectors
The Kano state Governor, Alhaji Abba Kabir Yusuf has approved major postings affecting heads of key agencies under his administration.
The announcement was made in a statement signed by Sunusi Bature Dawakin Tofa, spokesperson to the governor, on Monday.
According to the statement, Muhammad S. Khalil, who previously led the Watershed, Erosion, and Climate Change Management Agency (WECCMA), has been reposted to acting Managing Director of the Refuse Management and Sanitation Board (REMASAB).
In the shakeup, Lamin Mukhtar Hassan, formerly the Deputy MD of REMASAB, has been reassigned to take up the same role at the Sustainable Kano Project—an initiative focused on long-term infrastructural and environmental planning.
Similarly, Mustapha Sulaiman Mainasara, who served as Senior Special Reporter at REMASAB, has been moved to the Kano Afforestation Program (KNAP), where he’ll continue his role under a new environmental focus.
Also in the list, Dr. Mahmoud Abba has been appointed to serve as Acting Executive Secretary of WECCMA, filling the leadership vacuum created by Dr. Khalil’s transition.
The statement noted that the changes take immediate effect and reflect the governor’s commitment to improving service delivery, particularly in waste management, climate resilience, and urban sustainability.
