Gov Otti Moves To Subsidise Transportation System In Abia
The Abia State government has said Abia citizens will soon start to enjoy transport subsidies as plans are on a top gear by Governor Alex Otti through the Ministry of Transport to provide Compress Natural Gas buses and conversion of existing buses to hybrids with the view of reducing transportation fares across the state.
This was disclosed by the Commissioner for Transport, Dr Chimezie Ukaegbu during a radio programme monitored by THE WHISTLER on Monday.
Hon Ukaegbu stated that Abia citizens will soon witness a turn around development, improved transport and overhauling of the entire transport sector of Abia economy as the planned project of Governor Otti in the transport sector is providing bus stops, traffic lights, lay-by for alighting of commuters, and a one-shop Bus Terminals within Umuahia and Aba metropolis.
The Commissioner described the bus terminals as a transport hub that will put an end to illegal parks in the state.
He emphasised that amongst other plans, the Otti-led administration will set up Hybrid CNG Conversion Centers in Abia State.
