Fuel price hike: You’re silent, nowhere to be found – Bwala tackles NNPC GMD, Mele Kyari

Former spokesman of the ex-presidential candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Daniel Bwala, has accused the Group Managing Director of Nigerian National Petroleum Company Limited, NNPCL, Mele Kyari, of silence amid the current fuel price hike in Nigeria.

Bwala said Kyari should have educated Nigerians about the current situation of fuel price hike in the country.

He also accused the Federal Government of allegedly failing to properly educate Nigerians about the recent fuel price hike.

Posting on X, Bwala wrote: “When NNPCL announced a major policy decision like the increase of petrol, you would expect the GMD to make the media rounds dissecting and explaining to Nigerians the genuine intentions of govt based on economic realities.

“But alas, he is nowhere to be found; totally incommunicado.

“The minister of state for petroleum too is incommunicado; and this has given room for the opposition to peddle all kinds of negative narrative around it.”

Nigerians are currently experiencing long queues in filling stations owing the scarcity of fuel and a price hike from N617 per litre to N897 per litre.

The increment, which the NNPCL has not officially confirmed, comes days after the national oil company said it was heavily constrained by the huge debt it owes international suppliers.

NNPCL was said to owe suppliers an estimated to be $6.8 billion.
