President of the Nigerian Senate, Godswill Akpabio on Wednesday cautioned a fellow lawmaker, Senator Osita Ngwu for calling Bianca Odumegwu-Ojukwu ‘beautiful’.

Senator Osita Ngwu had during the screening of the newly appointed Ministers on the floor of the upper legislative chamber on Wednesday, described Mrs. Ojukwu as beautiful while introducing her.

Bianca went through her screening on the floor of the Senate on Wednesday and read her credentials before the red chamber.

She was subsequently quizzed by the Senators for the post of Minister of State Foreign Affairs.

When Akpabio opened the floor for questions, Ngwu, the Senator representing Enugu West District, started by applauding Bianca’s beauty to which he attracted a rebuke.

“Mr President, the beautiful nominee standing before us…” the lawmaker said.

Akpabio interjected, “Restrict yourself to the resume. Forget this word beautiful. She didn’t put in the CV that she is beautiful.”

After a ripple of laughter among the lawmakers, Ngwu proceeded to laud the profile and competence of the nominee.

Speaking also, the Senator representing Abia South, Enyinnaya Abaribe, said Biance’s competence and ability to perform was not in doubt.

Abaribe also commended President Bola Tinubu for nominating the “mother” of the All Progressives Grand Alliance, APGA, as a minister.

“By bringing an APGA person to be a minister has already started a unity government and national integration,” Abaribe said.

The nominee was subsequently asked to take a bow.
