Nigeria’s Flying Eagles will be without key defender Adamu Maigari at the 2025 FIFA U-20 World Cup, DAILY POST reports.

Maigari sustained an injury in training and will not recover in time for the start of the competition.

The right-back played a key role for the Flying Eagles at the 2025 Africa U-20 Cup of Nations in Egypt, where the team finished in third place.

The youngster featured in all six of the Flying Eagles’ games in Egypt.

He also won the Man of the Match award once during the tournament.

Meanwhile, the Flying Eagles will travel to Chile on Sunday for their final preparations ahead of the U-20 World Cup.

Head coach, Aliyu Zubairu, is expected to release his final squad for the biennial tournament on September 19.

They have been drawn in Group F alongside Norway, Colombia, and Saudi Arabia.
