Flood ravages Kaduna community
Residents of Manchok in Moro’a Chiefdom, Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State, are pleading for urgent help from both the federal and state governments after severe flooding swept through their community.
The flood, caused by three days of heavy rain, destroyed homes, farmlands, and plantations.
Many residents have been left stranded and unsure of what to do next.
One farmer, Luka Ishaya, said his entire source of livelihood had been wiped out.
“The incessant rains, instead of benefiting us, have brought devastation. It is really sad,” he lamented.
Youth leader Moses Mathew said the situation could have been managed if the drains were working.
According to him, young people in the community have now decided to take matters into their own hands by clearing blocked drains and digging makeshift channels while waiting for government intervention.
Though no lives were lost, the people of Manchok are still struggling to come to terms with the damage caused by the flood.
