First Cohort Of Abia Leadership Academy Begins August 13

The Abia State Government has announced that the first cohort of the 2025 Abia Leadership Academy training will commence on August 13 at Government College, Umuahia.
According to the Secretary to the State Government, Prof. Kenneth Kalu, the 7-day immersive, in-residence programme will host 250 participants per cohort, with the maiden group expected to arrive at the venue from 12 noon, bringing along all necessary items as earlier communicated during the screening and interview phases.
The Abia Leadership Academy, a flagship initiative of Governor Alex Otti, is designed to equip young Abians with the skills, discipline, and vision required to meet the demands of leadership in a rapidly evolving world.
The programme targets 1,000 youths aged 16 to 20 in 2025, with subsequent cohorts scheduled to take their turns over the next four weeks.
Prof. Kalu encouraged successful applicants who have completed the test and interview stages to regularly check their emails and text messages for resumption updates.
He further disclosed that limited slots remain for those interested in joining the pioneer class of the Academy.
The Academy represents a bold step in the Otti administration’s commitment to raising a new generation of leaders who will drive progress and innovation across Abia State and beyond.
