First Bank of Nigeria, Wednesday, commissioned its Digital Experience Centre at the University of Nigeria, Nsukka.

THE WHISTLER reports that the centre is the first to be commissioned in any university in Nigeria.

Speaking during the event, the Vice Chancellor of UNN, Prof Oguejiofor Ujam, commended First Bank for making UNN the first university to launch the centre in Nigeria. He said the relationship between First Bank and UNN had been cordial for many years, and called for its sustenance.

According to him, “First Bank has been doing businesses with University of Nigeria for a long time. This centre is therefore an honour. It will serve the university community well.”
The Managing Director of First Bank, Mr Olusegun Alebiosu, recalled that UNN donated the land where First Bank is built free to the management of the bank, adding that the gesture would never be taken for granted.

According to him, “This is the first Digital Experience Centre of First Bank to be launched in a university in Nigeria. It makes banking very easy. Simply get your ATM cards, and do your transactions yourselves. This initiative aims to enhance the banking experience for students and the community by providing convenient digital banking solutions. The centre offers a range of automated services, such as teller cash recyclers, self-service kiosks, and humanoid robots with video banking capabilities.”

He listed other features of the centre to include Teller Cash Recyclers (TCRs) for quicker cash dispensing and management, as well as Humanoid Robots which help customers with inquiries and transactions.

He added, “This is telling the whole world that we are prepared for the future. The future starts with this technology. We are going to launch all these across many campuses in Nigeria.”

The Group Executive Director, Technology, Digital Innovations and Technology Services of First Bank, Mr Calistus Obetta, said FBN’s Digital Technology Experience combines the best of digital and physical experiences.

Quoting him, “Whether you are doing account opening or withdrawal, they can be done seamlessly. It reflects the dynamics of this era. The banking operations are available twenty-four hours daily.”
