Fire Razes Market In Abuja’s Trademore Estate
A fire outbreak has razed the only market in Trademore Estate, Lugbe, Abuja, in the early hours of Monday, leaving residents in panic.
The fire reportedly began around 3:30 a.m., after the Abuja Electricity Distribution Company restored power to the area.
An eyewitness and a resident of the community identified as Joe, was among the first persons to raise alarm.
“I was alerted around 4 a.m., and by then, the fire had already spread. We couldn’t immediately determine the cause, but we suspect it might be an electrical fault,” Joe told Vanguard.
He further said efforts to reach the Federal Fire Service and the Federal Capital Territory Fire Service initially proved futile.
However, he said firefighting units from Dunamis Church, the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, and Sauka Station arrived on the scene between 5 a.m. and 6 a.m. and eventually put the fire under control after two hours.
“Dunamis Church first arrived at the scene around 5am, followed closely by firefighters from the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission and Sauka Station.”
“Two hours after the fire began, emergency responders finally brought the situation under control, extinguishing the flames and preventing their further spread,” Joe added
In June, Trademore Estate was flooded with over 100 homes submerged in water.
