Fire consumes goods worth millions of naira in Ogbomoso variety store
Goods and properties worth millions of naira have been destroyed following fire incident that occurred in a variety store in Ogbomoso in Oyo State, DAILY POST reports.
Our correspondent learnt that the incident occurred at Radex variety store, Bolanta Area, Oja- Igbo in Ogbomoso.
The incident according to sources occurred on Friday around 10.00pm.
It was learnt that the fire incident was caused by a power surge.
Our correspondent gathered that goods and properties worth millions of naira were affected during the incident.
Chairman of Oyo State Fire Service, Maroof Akinwande confirmed the incident.
Akinwande made this declaration via a statement made available to DAILY POST on Saturday.
Akinwande in the statement noted that no life was lost in the incident.
“On getting to the scene of the incident we met a variety store that was engulfed by fire, we quickly swung into action and dosed the fire within the shortest period of time, and educated people on fire prevention in our community.
“No casualty was recorded but the fire affected only one shop in the complex. The fire was as a result of a power surge.
The appliance returned to the station by 22:50hrs,and on standby”.
