Fiancé Stabs Woman In Port Harcourt

A disturbing incident has unfolded in Port Harcourt, Rivers State, where a woman, Orinemi Ayanate, was allegedly stabbed by her fiancé over a minor issue.
Ayanate is currently battling for her life in a hospital, where she has been receiving treatment for her injuries.
According to reports, Ayanate’s fiancé attacked her on Monday, June 23, 2025, at Iwofe, leaving her with severe injuries to her head and hand.
The suspect allegedly seized Ayanate’s phone, handbag, and wig before fleeing the scene. Neighbors came to her rescue and rushed her to the hospital, where she has been receiving treatment.¹
Ayanate’s friend, Mr. Promise Wosu Junior, popularly known as Wene Port Harcourt, confirmed that she has been given four packs of blood due to excessive bleeding.
Wosu described the incident as an extreme case of domestic violence, stating that Ayanate’s fiancé has a history of abusing her.
“Ayanate is a very good friend of mine, and I’m deeply concerned about her well-being,” Wosu said.
“The relationship has been abusive, but this incident is the most severe. We urge the police to thoroughly investigate and bring the perpetrator to justice.”
Ayanate’s friends are calling on the Rivers State Police Command to thoroughly investigate the incident and arrest her fiancé.
They have expressed outrage over the alleged action, describing it as a heinous act of violence against women.
The police have been notified about the incident, and an investigation is reportedly underway.
The victim’s friends have urged journalists to reach out to Ayanate when she regains strength to allow her to share her ordeal.
