The Federal Government has restated its commitment to completing Section Three of the 61-kilometre Enugu–Port Harcourt Expressway in Enugu State on schedule.

Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, gave the assurance on Wednesday during an inspection of the project site, which formed part of a wider citizens’ engagement tour of the South East.

Axcording to the statement issued by his special assistant on media Rabiu Ibrahim, Idris described modern road infrastructure as critical to economic growth, road safety, and citizens’ welfare.

“This project is a visible testament to government’s resolve to complete strategic highways nationwide for the benefit of Nigerians,” he said.

The ₦100.8 billion project, being executed by CGC Nigeria Limited, covers a dual carriageway of 122 kilometres in total.

According to the Director of Highways (South East), Engineer Tony Mbiko, the Enugu-bound section has been completed, while construction is ongoing on the remaining stretch.
