The Federal Government has commenced a three-day citizens’ engagement tour of Enugu and Ebonyi States in the South East, aimed at showcasing ongoing projects and interacting directly with citizens.

The Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris, disclosed this at a parley with media executives and influencers in Enugu on Wednesday night.

This Minister was represented by the Permanent Secretary, Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation, Mr. Chinasa Nnam Ogbodo.

“The purpose of this evening’s gathering is to meet and greet with members of the Fourth Estate in Enugu State, and to explain our mission. Our team, consisting of officials from the Federal Ministry of Information and National Orientation and its Agencies, Members of the National Communications Team, the Executives of the Nigerian Institute of Public Relations (NIPR), Broadcasting Organizations of Nigeria (BON), the Radio, Television, Theatre and Arts Workers Union (RATTAWU), the Nigeria Union of Journalists (NUJ), is on a three-day tour of two states in the South East – Enugu and Ebonyi States.

“From tomorrow, Thursday, we will embark on a tour of ongoing and commissioned projects of the Federal Government and those of the Government of Enugu State,” he said.

Idris said, after the tour of projects, the team will host a ‘Citizens Engagement Forum’ in the Enugu State Government House, on Thursday by 6 pm, to rub minds and get feedback from various stakeholders in Enugu State.

“This pattern will be repeated in Ebonyi State, where His Excellency Governor Ogbonna Erishi Nwifiru will be receiving us on Friday, August 15, 2025. The two Citizens’ Engagement events will be broadcast live on national news networks,” he said.

The Minister commended the warm reception accorded his delegation, especially from Governor Peter Mbah of Enugu State, “who, on short notice, is rendering all forms of support for our visit.”

He also conveyed President Tinubu’s goodwill to the people of the South East.
