The Minister of State for Defence, Bello Muhammad Matawalle, and the Executive Governor of Sokoto State, Alh. Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto, have jointly inspected the ongoing development of the Nigerian Air Force (NAF) 119 Composite Group (CG) provisional layout in Sokoto State.

During their visit, Matawalle commended the dedication and professionalism exhibited by NAF personnel.

He stated, “The Nigerian Air Force continues to play a critical role in safeguarding our nation.

“The Federal Government will ensure you have all the necessary resources to maintain operational efficiency, especially in countering security threats in the North-West.”

Governor Ahmed Aliyu Sokoto echoed these sentiments, emphasizing the collaboration between federal and state governments in tackling security issues.

He declared, “Sokoto State stands firmly with the Armed Forces. We are committed to providing all necessary support to ensure peace and stability for our people.”

The governor highlighted the importance of cooperation in enhancing security both within Sokoto and across the wider region.

Furthermore, the governor of Sokoto praised Matawalle’s efforts in addressing the security quagmire in the North-West.

He noted, “The Minister has shown resilience and bravery by penetrating what used to be a ‘NO-GO AREA’ and has even opened up areas that were hitherto deserted by our people.”

During the inspection, both leaders received updates from the Unit Commander regarding the progress of the NAF project.

The event also saw the presence of other high-ranking military officials, including Brigadier General I.A. Ajose, the General Officer Commanding (GOC) of the 8 Division.

Meanwhile, Matawalle has reaffirmed the Federal Government’s unwavering commitment to restoring peace and security in the North-West region.

The Minister assured the people that the government will not rest until lasting peace is achieved in the region and across Nigeria.

“The President is fully committed to ending insecurity in Northern Nigeria, and we are here to ensure that no stone is left unturned,” he said.
