FCT council poll: Moses Paul emerges ADC chairmanship candidate for AMAC

Moses Paul, widely known as Dr Mo, has officially emerged as the African Democratic Congress (ADC) Chairmanship candidate for the Abuja Municipal Area Council (AMAC) in the forthcoming local government elections.

Addressing a diverse crowd of supporters, party leaders, civil society advocates, and youth representatives at the ADC Secretariat in Area 2, Garki, Dr. Paul declared his readiness to lead a new era of grassroots-driven governance in the capital’s most prominent council.

“I am not here because of political godfathers. I am not here to warm a seat. I am here because AMAC is broken, and together, we must fix it,” he said to thunderous applause.

Dr. Paul’s emergence followed weeks of consultations across the council’s wards—from Karu to Kabusa, Jikwoyi to Garki—as he positioned himself as a voice for the underserved and a symbol of community-first leadership.

In his acceptance speech titled “The Mandate of the People, The Moment for Change,” he took aim at years of poor governance, lamenting the collapse of public services, including schools, health centres, and markets.

“The wait is over. This is not just another campaign. This is a movement of conscience, a mission of hope, and a moment of truth for AMAC,” he declared.

He pledged sweeping reforms aimed at restoring dignity and service delivery to residents, with a focus on:

Fully functional public primary schools, skill acquisition hubs in every ward, among others.
Dr. Paul also called on young people, women, and elders across AMAC to take ownership of the political process, urging them to register, organize, vote, and defend their votes.

To his opponents, he offered a challenge of ideas over insults: “Let’s debate policies, not spread fear. Let the people decide freely.”

He further appealed to the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to remain neutral and called on civil society and media to closely monitor the process.

“This is not politics as usual. This is a referendum on neglect. And come election day, we will answer loud and clear,” he said.

Paul thanked the ADC leadership for their support and reaffirmed his commitment to a leadership style rooted in service, transparency, and people-driven development.

“Let it be said that AMAC has risen—not because of one man, but because the people chose to believe again,” he concluded.
