Examination Fraud: Nigerian education sector in trouble – Epelle

Chairman of the Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB’s Special Committee on Examination Infractions, Jake Epelle, has said that the Nigerian education sector is in trouble.

Ekpelle stated this while responding to questions in an interview on Politics Today, a programme on Channels Television.

He was reacting to examination fraud uncovered by JAMB.

JAMB uncovered 4,251 cases of “finger blending” and 190 instances of AI-assisted impersonation through image morphing during investigations into the 2025 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME.

Epelle cautioned that unless urgent reforms were implemented, the credibility of Nigeria’s education system could collapse further.

”Exam fraud uncovered by JAMB shows that Nigeria’s education sector is in trouble.

“If left unchecked, examination malpractice will continue to erode merit, undermine public trust, and destroy the very foundation of Nigeria’s education and human capital development,” he warned.
