Ex-Super Eagles Star Kaita Bags UEFA Coaching Licence
Former Super Eagles midfielder Sani Kaita has earned the prestigious UEFA B License from the Football Association of Wales to further boost his coaching career.
Kaita, who represented Nigeria at the U-20 and U-23 levels. He was a member of the U-20 team that won the silver medal at the 2005 FIFA U-20 World Cup.
The 38-year-old has been into coaching in the United Kingdom since he retired from football a few years ago.
He started out as a volunteer at Fairford Town in 2004 and has recently been coaching youth football at Abbeymeads in Swindon.
Kaita expressed his delight after earning his UEFA B Licence certificate in Wales on Saturday.
He said, “Honestly, I am very happy to have achieved this. With this certificate, I will continue the development of young players in a positive environment.
“I started getting my professional coaching licence with the Football Association of Wales right from the entry level due to the fact that I did not feature for any club in the United Kingdom during my playing days.”
The UEFA B Licence is one level below the UEFA A Licence and allows holders to be head coaches of amateur clubs, youth teams up to age 16, and assistant coaches for professional clubs.
The UEFA B is designed for coaches who are working in the game or have aspirations to work in the game across the professional talent pathway.
It is designed to help the coaches understand the demands of the game and how to meet the needs of players as they build a deeper understanding of their various roles and responsibilities within the team.
Kaita started his career at NPFL side Kano Pillars before going on to represent the likes of Sparta Rotterdam, Monaco, Kuban Krasnodar, Locomotive Moscow, Olympiakos Nicosa, and JS Hercule in Europe.
He became the first Nigerian player to be sent off in a FIFA World Cup match when he received the marching orders against Greece in the 2010 World Cup in South Africa.
